Fit
Back
0Wow, did I disappear or what? For whatever reason, a combination of stress, life, etc., I didn’t get much done last week. I didn’t work out at all, and I ate not so great either. So we’re pretty much throwing that week out and trying to start fresh this week. Not that I win many points for today so far either…I’m on for P90x but I haven’t found motivation to actually do it.
It’s actually nice outside, and being stuck inside for most of the winter made staying inside and working out seem less than appealing. So I walked the dog, and then took my bike (that I finally retrieved from home) out for a ride on the trail that’s a few blocks down from our house.
Not that I got very far. Apparently, biking takes muscle and stuff, and I haven’t been on one in years. But, I got some fresh air and sunshine. Maybe I’ll try to get P90x in tonight, and get a little further in un-doing the damage that last week did to my progress.
Snowpocalypse
0Some days I have to admit, I’d rather curl up in a ball and watch movies than work out. Who doesn’t? And now it’s blizzarding, and blizzards just make me want to hibernate until spring. But I have managed to force myself off the couch and work out nonetheless. And once I get started moving I’m feeling the benefit of my recovery week, and of the small adjustments I made to my diet. My energy level was way up yesterday and today, and although I won’t call P90x Plyo easy anytime soon, it wasn’t that bad.
Tomorrow I have to get outside. I just have to…freelancing doesn’t give me any reason to go anywhere, so it’s easy to hole up during winter weather, but I haven’t left the house in days. I need to get OUT. So here’s hoping the four foot snowdrift in the street next to my car either gets packed down or plowed away before I get up tomorrow, or I’ll have a lot of scooping to do.
Phase 2
0Four weeks done!
I wish I had done a little better last week, but it was a recovery week to the max. I think I needed the rest, could have done better on the food, but hey. Even with three skipped days of workouts and sub-par nutrition, my results after 4 weeks aren’t too shabby: 6 pounds lost, 2″ off my waist, 2″ off my hips, inches off almost everywhere, and lost 4% bodyfat. Definite progress – my clothes are all fitting much better, and I look and feel better, so I’ve got plenty of motivation to hit this next phase hard and see how much further I can go!
Forget the Rest
0I’m exhausted…I don’t have much of an excuse, but I am. My workout for today was teaching tkd class, and walking my roommate’s dog, and that’s going to have to suffice. Bless the after-school coordinators, though, because they finally stopped letting in every kid who wanted to join club and went to a lottery system. I actually had a manageable class size, and it was amazing how much more I could get done when 90% of my time wasn’t being sucked up trying to control the chaos.
I think I need to eat more early in the day…I’m not hungry when I wake up, and don’t eat that much for lunch, then as evening comes on I find myself starving. When I tried to work out yesterday I crashed hard, and I think it’s because I’m running on almost no food, and I have nothing left by afternoon. Then I eat a lot at night, and no wonder. Anyway. If my stomach didn’t hate me in the morning, it would be an easier resolution.
So client work sucked up my morning, teaching sucked up my afternoon, and by the time I got home and walked the dog I was done. I tried to find the energy/motivation to do P90x but I’m exhausted, so I think I’ll say I got some activity in and go to bed early. I’ve been good for nothing all night, should have been doing homework reading but it will have to wait until tomorrow. So…half my day was productive. ‘Do your best and forget the rest’ is the motto, guess I’m following that tonight.
Oh yeah! I changed my site design yesterday. I want to do more with content reorganization, and to add some stuff, but for now it looks all pretty – and it is actually my design and only a partial hack, instead of being an off-the-rack theme. The cobbler’s children go barefoot, or however that goes…usually my own site gets very neglected but I finally put a little bit of time into it.
And why a hack and not a clean, made-by-me theme? Because I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel, or spending weeks coding up a rock-solid wordpress theme out of pure hubris. So 95% of everything is exactly the same as it was before; I just swapped out an image and changed a little css here and there to clean it up. I might do more later, but…there’s that whole cobbler thing and for now I’m happy. And if this entire bit was greek to you, well, don’t worry about it. Things look different, everything else is the same, carry on and no worries, my friend.
