I’m alive, I swear
0Hey! Sorry for the complete death of blogging in the last couple weeks…I was on a roll for a while there but I crashed. I’ll try to get something going again soon, things are just hectic, and crazy, and all those other excuses people have for not blogging. On the bright side, my work schedule, although inconsistent, is getting more productive. If you ever decide to jump ship and work for yourself, definitely keep in mind that it will take a few weeks for you to get used to the lack of boundaries.
At first my brain went into vacation mode, and it was really hard to want to do very much for very long. After I’ve had some time to adjust and try different work schedules and places, and had some time to sleep in like crazy, I’ve started to settle down. Oh and part of that settling down has involved me not using my most productive evening hours doing things like drawing, which has been part of the aforementioned blogging meltdown. I still want to draw, but I can’t afford to interrupt work to do it, so I have to reset my habits…and that’s always fun.
The other thing that helped was to approach work in terms of projects, and break it down into sections, and stop thinking about hours. When I think ‘oh I just have to put in x many hours today’, then I find myself watching the clock a little too much. When I just look at something as a project I need to finish, I find it a lot easier to keep working until I’ve made progress, and I have a lot more productive days.
Here’s to your productivity! May it be better than mine ;)
