In my continuing quest for ‘forms of cardio that don’t hurt my foot,’ today’s experiment was swimming. It recently dawned on me that I’m a student again, and I can use the rec center (and therefore the pool). So I went in this morning and swam for a while. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been in a pool, it was kind of nice – and definitely easy on my foot. So one more thing to add to the rotation!

And it turns out it was a good thing I went this morning, because late this afternoon it was suddenly SNOWMAGGEDON. The 1-2 inch, ‘light dusting’ became blizzard conditions and about 5″ in a couple hours. After pushing through a bunch of reading for class tonight (due to reading the syllabus wrong previously and reading the wrong chapter) and then cramming in an extra-credit assignment for my other class, I jumped in my car and drove…around the block.

In that space of time I deduced that I could not see the road, it was slicker than slick, and I passed one car that was making its way out of the ditch, and saw another up ahead that was in the ditch and practically on top of the railroad tracks. That was enough for me, so I came back home, emailed my professors, and then went out and scooped the driveway. Come on, what else was I going to do?
